 | | I produced a bunch of plants in the Fall and planted them in our plastic greenhouse surrounded by black-painted water-filled milk jugs and covered with bubble wrap when temps go below freezing. This kale is green until cold weather hits it, then it turns an almost-black maroon. This is kind of neat because it "tells" you when the kale has been sweetened by the cold weather. So far, I have tasted it raw and it is very sweet. I think it would last this way through the winter. Our only problem is a little slug damage. A very beautiful-looking kale. A fairly vigorous grower too. I once grew a green curly kale that was 3' tall and harvested a ton of it snow-covered. I forgot what it was. I wish I could find it again. Update: this kale required almost no cooking and has a good taste, but the texture is more like collard greens. | | | | 1 of 2 gardeners found this review helpful. | |

 | | Grew this next to Red Russian Kale, and Redbor had less damage from Cabbage Whites, (therefore) had better yield, and was more ornamental. | | | | 2 of 2 gardeners found this review helpful. | |

 | | This is an absolutely stunning ornamental in reddish-purple. Beautiful and tasty, it fits the flower bed as well as the vegetable garden. This is a hybrid, so it's more expensive then ordinary kale, but it's well worth it. Highly recommended! | | | | 2 of 2 gardeners found this review helpful. | |
