Germinated and grew well despite late sowing. Grew well but then caterpillars decided they liked it so some plants were heavily defoliated. Pretty and good tasting. |

Seeds germinated quite well. The plants are quite resistant to disease and insects - though there are a few holes here and there. I can understand this as the kale is very tasty. The seeds were planted late and the plants are still growing strong - unless they were affected by the frost of a few nights ago - haven\'t been to the farm in the last week. |

Mediocre germination and very slow to grow in Saratoga County. Young leaves were tender and tasty but plants have never sized up. |

A backbone of my garden. I give it a decent start before harvesting, and then clip leaves weekly for market plus in between for home use. It is the Everready Bunny of the garden - I had some on New Year's Day , completely unprotected, zone 4, and it was delicious. Mine is quite curly. This is a workhorse and one of my most profitable market crops-- though my customers either love kale or won't go near it! |
