Horseradish is hard to dig in my heavy clayish soil. It can get quite weedy if the roots are tilled. |

I have heard that horseradish is easy to grow. I planted it last winter in full sun, and last summer I spent all summer and fall battling harlequin beetles. There were millions, and the bugs spread to my kale and peppers as well. As an organic gardener, I tried hot pepper spray, stomping on them, and finally, harvesting and leaving the roots out as a trap so I could stomp on them some more. I never did eat the roots, so I cannot really rate them on taste. |
