Reliable producer of tasty spears. Smaller than Barr\'s Mammoth or Mary Washington, but seems hardier than both in zone 6 and also produces despite adverse conditions (like competition from weeds and a spot with less than perfect soil and sun. |

Despite information that asparagus doesn't do well on the gulf coast, this variety is doing well enough. |

When I grew this I was still living in zone 9. I grew this from seed and it took off like weeds! The flavor was sweet and tender but the yield was low. |

Novelty variety. Some years it doesn't emerge but appears the following. Not very productive. |

I am amazed at the sweet crispness and tenderness of the thick stalks. Wonderful as a raw vegetable to dip in various creamy dips. Nothing comes close to this variety in taste and tenderness. |

Has done well for me in south Georgia. Thicker spears than than the green types. Tends not to get hard as quick as the other types. |

Although several cultivars of asparagus do well in my garden, Purple Passion has surpassed them all. The spears are larger and sweeter than any of the green varieties. |
