2 of 10 beans survived a virus (or possibly UV ,, I live in Phx and it was over 110 after a series of cloudy days) that killed all 30 of my Hopi Black Beans and all 20 of my Rattlesnake beans growing in the same area. They also survived a light frost (that killed tomatoes) but not a harder freeze a month later. The two surviving plants produced over a quart of shelled beans. Picked small, the beans are mild but seem to have a stronger flavor when picked later. I saved seeds from the two survivors in hopes they had a genetic difference they can pass to the next generation (had all 10 plants survived and been as productive I would have been pleased with the results).

If these beans grew year round, we would never starve. All you have to do is stick them in the ground. 2 beans produced a seven ounce bag at harvest time. Super reliable.

A prolific cultivar that handles southern growing conditions well. Small limas, with a pod similar in size to the white Carolina. Taste is good for a colored cultivar, but too strong for lots of folks.
