Have grown Jade beans for the past 3 years. Very productive- three rows (about 20 ft each) gives us enough to eat fresh and can for use during the following year (about 60 pint jars). Canned taste is better than frozen, which I used to do. No problem with disease or pests, even in bad japanese beetle years. |

Nice, slender, tender with good flavor. Heavy yield first pick, lighter second pick, then wait a few weeks for another decent yield. Good choice for a fall crop to sow after the garlic is pulled. Great choice for small plots. Good freezer bean. |

By far my favorite canning bean. They really hold a nice color, flavor, and texture when canned. Nice for fresh eating too. Beans held up high on bush, and OK germination but pays to wait till soil has warmed up and seed does not tolerate wet soil. Switched to these from Contender because they are easier to pick, they can better, the taste is just as good, and the plant is healthier. |

These prolific plants not only produce an amazing number of beans, but they continue to pump out beans throughout the entire season. Not only that, but they have a wonderful flavor and appearance. A real winner! |

great bean, it out produced the other two that I grew. Next year this will be the only green bean that I plant. All my friends loved them. I picked around 6 bushell from a 50ft row and finally pulled them because I had canned all that I wanted. |

Outstanding variety, very productive, disease resistant, held up well in cool summer & hot summer, excellent delicious flavor. I grow this every year and is a big seller at Farmer's Market. |

I tried a lot of new varieties this year, and Jade was one of them. I will definitely grow it again. Despite a cool, short summer, the yield was good. But it was the flavor that really sold me: best I've ever had in a bush bean, even canned. I would have given it a higher ease/reliability rating, except that several plants split just at the first node above the ground. I will be sure to stake them next year. |

Jade is a very good, reliable snap bean with a taste, texture and performance worthy of a trial patch if you haven't tried them. A big plus is a second flush of beans from early planted seeds if the plants are kept healthy. I plant at 2 to 3 inches apart in a double row about 6 inches between the rows. If the seeds don't germinate in a week, just poke some more in. Planting seeds about an inch down in the spring helps germination. Later seeds can be planted deeper. Keep well watered after beans set. Tender even when large, but very nice at pencil width and 5 to 6 inches long. |

Beans grow quite long (7-9in). They remain crisp for days after picking and are very tasty. I highly recommend these beans. |

I planted @ 75 seeds last summer. Only @ 12 - 20 germinated and grew. What I was able to harvest were excellent beans. They were nice, long, straight beans with exceptional stay to harvest ability. If I had better success with the germination situation, I would have probably given this bean a high 4 rating. I'll try it again this year to see if last year was a fluke or not.
Well, last year was a fluke. I had excellent germination and a wonderful yield. I planted them a bit later this year and it seemed to make a difference. Excellent flavor and tenderness even when left on the plant past optimum size. Will keep on growing these for sure. |

For taste, unexcelled. But I've consistently found it less productive than most of its competition (Tema, Fortex, Tendergreen Improved, for three), hard to get started in late springs (see rural central NY), and likely to throw stunted plants 10 to 20 percent of the time. To misquote an old movie, what's there is choice. If you've got a huge garden and can afford to grow several varieties, this is clearly worth it. Sublime canned. |

We grow this variety each year with very good results. The plants are healthy and the beans are very attractive. Taste could be a little more "beany" but it is certainly tender. Good long season for a bush bean. |

We've grown Jade and only stopped (along with other beans) because of spider mites. It bears heavily for a bush bean and we've had as many as 3 flushes of beans. Good flavor too. |

This variety has excellent tenderness and flavor. It is almost as heat tolerant as the most heat-tolerant varieties I have tried (Brio, Matador, Festina and a few others). Quality of this variety diminished a little when temperatures started climbing over 100 degrees. But these temperatures are extreme for beans. |

I have planted Jade Beans for the last 9 years. The only time I was not completely satisfied with them was last year. They didn't produce as well as usual, but this was expected as the grasshoppers were really bad. They still produced enough for my family to enjoy fresh and to can a few quarts. |

I do not think bush beans taste as good as pole beans but I do grow Jade (and Black Valentine). It has a good flavor, heavy yields, and an attractive slender appearance. I plant in early July for fall crops and have no experience with Jade in the spring. The catalog indicates that it is a fussy germinator and requires warm soils. |
