| I have been growing Paris Island for over a decade now. It is a real workhorse. I am in a cold climate and this is one I grow year round. Like all Romaine style s it is a rougher lettuce, so don\'t think Bibb, and has a more earthy favor. I gave it a 4 for flavor (though as Romaine it is a 5) because, lets face it Romaine lettuce is not early as pleasant tasting as some other varieties. \r\n\r\nI grow these 4 to a square foot as they are a dwarf Romaine. They resist bolting and are one lettuce that will take (in terms of a transplant in the heat). these are very winter hardy ad I plant them as seedlings in December and place thin in a cold frame with a few soda bottles filled with water to act as a heat sink and over winter. Today is April 13th and I just harvested my first crop. They are about 8 inches tall and delicious.\r\n\r\nI use these as cut and come again growers but...though occasionally I will take a whole head, which usually is best with Romaine types. \r\n\r\nBy the way, the seeds keep amazingly well. I am still on my first pack, purchased 10 years ago ad get close to a 100% germination rate. I place them in the refrigerator and only take out a few at at time. Contrast that with Black Seeded Simpson which fades after 5 years and has 10% germination in 7 years. |

| The oldies are usually goodies. Dependable producer but definitely best before summer heat sets in. Slugs do like it, but usually by the time they become a real problem the lettuce is starting to bolt. |

| I'm having a great time growing this this year. I started picking leaves a month or so ago. It does form loose stalky heads which I've recent started picking. It's holding up well to July's heat without bolting or getting bitter. Aphids love the seedlings, but this lettuce has been very prolific despite aphids slugs & snails. |

| Classic looking and tasting Romaine. Grew several seasons in the spring. Very reliable from transplants to mature before heat. Big heads in double rows 9"X12". Bolt quickly in heat. |
