thsi is my first year of serious harvest after planting 2 year old crowns in 2009. Mary Washington is one of 4 kinds I planted. it\\\'s more productive than the others and the spears are very thick. I have about 1/3 of the plants covered for white asparagus and I think this variety is a good choice for that purpose. I initially chose Mary Washington for it\\\'s reputation as being productive under less than ideal conditions. i was hoping it would be OK with a little benign neglect and it has exceeded my expectations. it\\\'s out-produced Barr\\\'s Mammoth and Purple Sweet in identical circumstances.
