| The Beefsteak tomato variety is a classic. Easy to grow, tastes juicy, and grows fairly quickly for the size of the fruit. My beefsteak tomato did succumb to Anthracnose Fruit Rot as per my online research to diagnose the darker spots on the fruit when it was ripening. I\'ve grown this variety for multiple years, and it never fails to produce a good summer snack. |

| Average taste tomato. I'm growing in the last 4 years, they don't produce big tomatoes, some of them pretty small, they die very early cause of late blight. Nothing special. |

| Purchased "Beefsteak" seeds from walmart for .10 cent a pack. Grew from seed, started on my side porch in may, transplanted small plants to main garden june. I didn't sucker them and they grew short and bushey and put out about 10-15 maters per plant. Big, ribbed, red, meety beefers. Skin was a bit thick, but the maters tasted great. No disease issues. Had to pick some green at end of season, but they ripened in newspaper. |

| This is the same tomato as the Henderson's Red Ponderosa. Over the years it has been vended as the Scarlet Ponderosa, Crimson Cushion and during the 40's and 50's simply as the Beefsteak. It is a good performer, tends to catfacing more than the more modern cultivars. Delicious is a Burpee selected strain of this cultivar and is a much prettier tomato, both smoother and larger. |
