I planted these in Spring and Fall 2010. The spring crop bolted quickly, and most of the remaining stalks and leaves were fibrous and tough. Maybe they didn't like the warm early spring. The fall crop was tender and tasty and produced some side shoots. They also didn't mind the freezing night temps in December. For spring crops, they probably need to be started very early, and kept in a cold frame. I used 2 varieties, Suiho and Happy Rich, both from Johnny's. |
