| We typically get 3-5 cuttings (clear cut rather than selective cut) of this variety. Selective cutting (picking only the larger leaves) will result in a longer harvest. But, those who grow to sell may not have the time to selective cut. The flavor is best in colder weather, but quite good in summer as well. From a marketing perspective, the leaves tend to look pretty good most of the year except the height of summer or after a windstorm. After a storm, pick damaged leaves and have them for dinner. this will give room for the new leaves to come on. You may notice that some colors will be more vigorous than others. Keep clear of grassy weeds to reduce incidence of thrips in summer. Basil could be a useful companion if thrips are a problem. Our Five Color Silverbeet are doing reasonably well in an unheated high tunnel. It is December and we have harvested some of the best tasting chard we've ever had. We anticipate it will overwinter and begin regrowth in late February. |

| Draws the deer like a giant magnet. They knwo what tastes good, because this is a delicious variety of chard. Reasonably productive and very nice colors. |
