Germinated and grew well. Produced lots of squash which we donated. Taste was mixed, some found it bland and others found it tasty for an acorn variety. Other than individual preferences, wondering if some were ripe enough.

We planted our seeds at the end of June. Our temperatures were still cool. The seeds never germinated. We planted, again, at the end of July. These seeds failed to germinate, also.

Grew well, thick and vining, produced a lot of squash. Flavor was only ok, not a standout to eat on its own, but good in dishes with other ingredients.

This vine grew prolifically. However, after a caretaker of the trial garden went on vacation, the plant was unfornutely ravaged by squash bugs and squash vine borers. We did not get a chance to try a mature squash before the end of the season. The squash we did attempt to eat was too starchy, likely due to it not being ripe enough.

A solid performing acorn squash with good flavor but does not taste like sweet potatoes. It was very productive, but on very long vines that quickly overwhelmed the 4x4 bed. Not a choice for small space gardening. Eventually developed powdery mildew but no other issues.

Small sized fruit and light yield for such a large plant. Excellent variety for arches and growing vertically due to small fruit size.

These plants were huge and far outstripped the three by three foot bed we had available for them. They produced a lot of small acorn-shaped squash, a size good for two servings. Plants had powdery mildew by the end of August (to be expected in a squash variety with no resistance). The squash had little flavor and a grainy texture and were not at all sweet.

A very strong and long vine producing a lot of fruit. By mid-September it developed powdery mildew so we pulled out the vines. The baked fruit did have more of a starchy taste and texture with a faint hint of sweet potato, but very enjoyable. Never saved any to store because everyone ate them a few days after harvest.

It got the squash vine borer, and we expected more fruit from the plant. The taste was good in soup, but was not tried on it\'s own.

Taste is good but not distinctive. Consistency is a bit starchy as you would expect. No pest problems but the yield was a bit less than expected relative to the amount of vine.

Taste is ok, but it's not anything special. I prefer Sweet Reba for taste. Also, Sweet Reba is a compact squash that doesn't run all over the place like Thelma Sanders.

We harvested over 2 bushels of squash from a 15' row grown on a trellis. The flavor wasn't our favorite- a little bland and pale in color. However, it was so prolific that we will grow it again.

This IS an acorn squash. It just has a cream colored skin. Size can be slightly bigger than standard green acorns such as Table Queen, but not much bigger. These vines are very hardy. Dry year - no problem, just get them started as seedlings. Wet year - it can do that. Cool year - ok as long as you get them in on time. Hot year - it doesn't really notice. From a production standpoint, we can't do better for an acorn squash. We also like the taste of these better than standard green acorn squash. We find them to be a little less stringy. We give them a four only because acorns are not our favorite. We've had them store into January, but don't expect it of all the fruit. Vines crawl around a bit, but not much more than average winter squash. Easy to pick - in part because the color makes it easier to see them. We don't lose much of these to pests or other problems.

Delicious, hardy, productive, and keeping quite well in my basement. Plus it's got a great name, "Thelma Sanders Sweet Potato Squash"!
