| Listada de Gandia is not from Italy. It is Spanish, from the city of Gandia. However, it seems reasonably at home in Ontario, at least in the very hot summer of 2012. We kept it on drip irrigation, which I am sure helped very much, and got a good crop of beautiful medium sized striped eggplants. I found the size very convenient for the 2 of us. It started reasonably early and is still continuing to produce eggplants, although slowing down very much now that it is getting cool. (Down to 8 degrees C at night.) Definitely worth growing and will be on our list for next year. |

| Italian heirloom, production very high, eggplants are a beautiful color of purple and white with white flesh, taste wonderful, easy to grow in areas with plenty of sun. |

| Pretty fruit, but not many of them. Good eating, thin skins and "normal" eggplant taste.
Watch out for those thorns though! Nasty ones on the cap of the fruit..ouch. |

| While this heirloom is easily one of the prettiest eggplants with a mild flavor and thin skin, its fruits are small and few in number. In addition, their narrow elongated oval shape does not lend itself to baking whole. A poor market variety, but a fun one to grow anyway. |
