We mostly get golden, white, and red-and-white candy striped beets from this mix. They can get very large (football size) and remain sweet and good - we just leave them in the garden until we need them in the winter (we don't generally have the ground freeze here). The beet flavor is mild, they don't bleed, and they are sweet. They are not really comparable to regular beets since they are so much less flavorful and colorful, but they are a great winter vegetable staple for us in soups and stews. |
