| Grew this for the first time this year, but it did very well, and kept pace with Ping-Tung (our favourite) for earliness and yield. Beautiful round matte dark purple to black fruits with almost a wood-grain effect to them. The plants can be a little spiny, as noted - especially take care when cutting them, as there are spines pointing upward on the calyx. As far as flavour goes, these are so sweet, mild and tender they almost verge on the bland, so be careful not to overwhelm them with too strong flavours. Much liked. We will grow this again. |

| One of the best, and no wonder it's a heritage variety in Japan (from the ancient Kyoto region). It has a creamy texture when cooked that it truly unique. The only negative are the somewhat spiny plants - but since it's a home variety for me it's not a problem. |

| I couldn't taste any bitterness in this fruit at all, so I never salted it to sweat it, or anything. I didn't even know I liked eggplants until I tasted this little beauty. The small eggplants are perfect for single servings, too. Even the plants themselves are really pretty. I only grew five Kamo plants this season. I'll be growing twenty next year. |

| Great eggplant with good yields. Produced baseball sized purple eggplants with flat bottoms that were good for eating in curries, grilled, and for eggplant parmesan. |
