| | Description: |
Heirloom. Red, elongated, tall bulb harvested at maturity. Medium/long day type. Not for storage. Also known as 'Tropeana Lunga' and 'Tropea Rossa Tonda'. Red onions are so beloved in Tropea, Italy, that an annual summer festival is held in their honor. Hailing from the same region, this gorgeous, torpedo-shaped specialty onion will have you celebrating too. Although not a storage onion, the sweet, mild, and mouth-watering bulbs can be harvested with their tops in late summer, braided, and hung up like garlic for a few months of fresh eating. Grow it for yourself to see why multiple generations of gardeners and farmers have carefully selected for the traits in this beloved variety.

| I love long of Tropea. My customers at market always like them. You can do some closer spacing on them and still get a pretty good looking onion. Many customers mistakenly think they are shallots, and I have to correct the. Flavor is good, especially roasted. |

| Grow pretty good and actually sold great at market despite a not very gourmet crowd. Most didn\'t get large. |

| These were as easy to grow as any other onion, that is to say start them early, keep them weeded and watered, and voila! Onions. They are very attractive and tasty but indeed do not store well. |
