For flavor, this variety cannot be beat. I have a series of raised beds, and only grew about 15 stalks at a time, with my bush beans between the rows. The first planting was excellent with ears that were 6 inches and filled to the tip. The second planting succumbed to corn smut which ruined all the ears. I really cannot blame the marai variety as Virginia was in a very wet and humid weather pattern which ruined many vegetables that were bothered by high heat, humidity and unending rain.
