Growing these for the first time this year and am blown away! They are producing like crazy. Many plants have 15 or more peppers on them. \\\\\\\'ve harvested several very large, thick-walled ones that have great flavor raw or cooked. One word of caution, make sure you stake the plants. The number of heavy peppers on the branches will cause them to break from the main stalk if you dont. I learned the hard way. 8/11/24 - just picked 6 lbs of peppers from just 4 plants. The largest being over 14 ounces. And there are plenty more on the plants. Left on the plant until September and got some brilliant red ones with a nice sweet flavor. Still producing in early October in Southern NH. They freeze well, too. |

Consistently produces large to extra large, thick walled fruit with abundant foliage. After many many years of trying many many different varieties this is now the only green to red sweet pepper in the garden. |

New variety from Harris Seeds. After very poor results with a number of other varieties the past few years (blossom drop & duds) I tried Declaration this year. Got a late start, but harvested beautiful sweet peppers. Healthy, well shaped, sweet and tastey. Stuffed well. Freezing pepper shells (filled with dry beans to maintain shape only) in vacuum bags for winter time meals. Many others report bad results growing sweet peppers in this area this year, so I give the credit to Declaration!
Grew again in '09. Even better than last year. Big, blocky, meaty and healthy! |
