Ultimate Opener was not a taste standout in my Northern VA garden. It did produce fairly well & looked good but tasted no better than Early Girl. It also wasn't any earlier for me than Big Beef or Gary O' Sena & didn't taste nearly as good as either of those.

Update 8/2012. Ultimate Opener is much more than an early variety. Blossom end rot hit this area and my garden hard this summer due to excessive heat. U/O has not had any damage! Quality and size of fruit makes U/O a great all season tomato for eating fresh and canning. Grow them in a 5\\\' concrete reinforcement wire cage anchored well. They will yield well until fall frost. This is a great variety!
