Lycopersicon lycopersicum. Early season cherry type fruit. Dwarf (tree-type), indeterminate plants bear heavy yields of 4 to 6 ounce, heart-shaped, pale-yellow fruits with clear skin and yellow flesh. About 58 days to maturity.
This variety is associated with the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI). It is a Dwarf Tomato Project variety originated as a stabilized selection out of the Nosey family ('Roza Vetrov' and 'Anna Banana Russian') made by Patrina Nuske Small. Among those who contributed to stabilizing this new dwarf variety were Craig LeHoullier, Linda Black, Dan Follett, Amanda Fischer, and Sherry Long. Final selection and naming was done by Linda Black of California.

| Plants were compact but the tomatoes cracked easily and taste reviews were mixed. They were lemony but lacked real taste, texture wasn\'t great due to cracking. Not sure I would grow again, but since it was a bad year for tomatoes in general, I might give it another shot. |

| This is a compact plant and therefore good for small gardens. Hiwever, it was not reliable. The first seedlling grew well at first, then struggled and we had to pull it. We planted a second seedling and it did well, produced a low yield, but tasty tomatoes. |

| Our garden depends primarily on rain for watering and this variety of tomato did very well with what nature decided to provide. Very hardy. Moderately productive. |

| Good taste, good disease resistance. Not an early producer... didn\'t get any edible tomatoes until late August, most of fruit didn\'t appear will September. Now before frost pulled lots of green tomatoes. |

| Transplants planted on 5/19, first flower noticed on 6/8. 6/26: 4 tomatoes and more flowering noted. 7/17: picked first harvest. Meaty, not seedy, very juicy, not sweet. Bland, lacking flavor, would not plant again. Some crazing, cracking and slug holes noted. 7/24: Tomatoes being eaten on vine by ? 8/10: Beginning to note flowers dying on the vine, yellowing and dead leaves. ? nutrient deficiency? (?Mg?) Some leaves turning purple. Leaf blight and cat facing. We have another lemon ice tomato in a separate bed, and both have same symptoms. 8/14: Purple leaves and cracked tomatoes. 8/24: Both plants in separate beds are dying. 8/31: pulled both lemon ice plants. total useable yield was 5 1/4 lbs. Soil ph measured in this bed: 7.2. |
