Looseleaf type. Uniform, dense, compact plants with super-frilly red leaves. Medium-dark red during short fall days. Excellent bolt-, heat- and cold-tolerance. Good in cool temperatures during spring and fall. Resistant to bottom rot and downy mildew. Bolting, heat and tip burn tolerant.

| Very attractive lettuce, with leaves of red brushed over green. Better than the really dark reds, but still lacks the good flavour of the best green lettuces. For us it grew somewhat slowly, but has also been relatively slow to bolt. |

| Slow to bolt beautiful looking red lettuce. Harvested way into the summer heat after all the other lettuce had bolted. Pelleted seed from Johnny make beautiful rows of plants because you can control the seed when planting. |

| All this lettuce is good for is for looks. Grew in summer and fall, texture is too papery, and the lettuce does not hold up well to rough handling. It looks pretty in salad mixes, but that is about it. |

| 5 stars says it all. Excellent lettuce in every way. Continuous harvest in Zone 5 through summer. Fall crop still being harvested through Thanksgiving when temperatures had been into the low 20's. |
