| This was one of my big disappointments this year. Performed very poorly for me. I only had 4 melons from six plants, and only one of those had any size to it. It required extra watering than the other melons I grew. AU
Producer is a much better performer. I won't grow this one again. |

| I grew this variety on my second year of growing watermelons in SE Michigan (zone 5). It is without question the easiest melon I've grown, with excellent disease resistance and great productivity. By late summer the other 2 melon varieties in my garden had succumbed to diseases, but Crimson Sweet remained healthy and continued producing into mid-September. Several of the melons reached 25 lbs., not bad for my growing region, and considering I didn't start them early.
The flesh is crisp and very sweet, and contains only a few seeds. My only complaint is that the watermelon flavor is too mild. Nevertheless, this variety is so reliable that I'll be planting a few again this summer as a backup, and to give away (most people I know in Michigan don't even know what a real watermelon should taste like). |

| Crimson Sweet is still the most popular open pollinated market melon. It has excellent taste and texture and is the one to which all others are compared. It is vigorous and productive. By using close spacing it can be grown at 15-20 lbs without losing its quality. The hybrids are more uniform and gradually taking over market share, most of them will be Crimson sweet or Allsweet derivatives. |

| The plant was growing great for 2 months and then just died. The yield for the one plant was 3 and while young, they tasted pretty good.

| We grew this last year and it was delicious. We only got about 10 melons on 9 plants, but we planted it late and the critters got to some of the fruit before it could ripen. We are definitely growing again this year. What a treat after coming in from working outside on a hot summers day! |

| This popular watermelon lives up to its popularity. It's a nice round medium size, good color, texture and taste. I would grow again. If I had to say something negative it would be that the seed didn't seem to germinate in the garden reliably for me in 2005. In 2006, I'll try growing in a pot and transplanting. |

| I grew many different varieties of watermelon commercially for 14 years. Crimson Sweet still has the best flavor, dependable yields and insect/disease resistance of any variety bar none. |
