I have grown \'De Cicco\' for two years and will not try again because I want a broccoli that makes a head. This one did not even make 4 inch heads. Side shoots were abundant.

Wasn\'t impressed with this. Side shoots were not what I hoped. I did cut the heads small but summer side shoot performance was not there.

Got this at the Johnny\'s store because my hubbie wanted more plants than Pine Tree Seed\'s small packet of \'Packman\'. Chose this one because it is supposed to have prolific side shoots. These plants were too large and too slow to produce for our raised beds with a short growing season. The only plant we have ever pulled up before it budded because we got tired of waiting (harvested 3 small heads). No comparison to \'Packman.\' None.

This plant grew well for me and produced a small main head, but while it did produce side shoots, they were small and quickly grew woody. Compared to Piracicaba, it was not a winner. I won't grow again.

I started indoors and planted out in late winter. While I didn't get much of a main head, I was able to harvest side shoots all summer long.

Got organic seeds from Seeds of Change and had about 50% germination rate. Started indoors 3/26 for mid-May transplant. Seedlings got very leggy. I repotted deeper to try to salvage and they're doing well so far. I supect it might be too warm for them indoors, so I also started some seed in the cold frame 4/17 with no luck. Trying again with direct seeding this fall. This is my 1st attempt with this variety. Will report back on taste/yield at end of season.

First time I tried this variety. Seemed pretty easy to grow, using row cover to keep off early bugs. Good yield mid-summer until mid-October. 4-5" heads & lots of side shoots with tender stems that we stir-fried with their young leaves.

This is the second year we have tried this variety with, well, NO success at all! Last year I admit to neglecting the plants somewhat which withered away and died. However, they got good treatment this year, grew fairly nice central stems and leaves, but NO broccoli! None! Seed was from Ferry Morse. Perhaps this variety grows better in another part of the country. We had lots of Harlequin bugs this year (2007) on all our brassicas, but everything else still did produce.

Very poor production of side shoots. Plant was healthy but not much production. Disappointing.
