Vines bear deep orange to red, green-shouldered, slightly flattened 8- to 12-ounce, 2- to 3-inch, slightly flattened, globe-shaped fruit with bright red interiors. Dependable cool-season producer from Dnepropetrovsk in Ukraine, brought to America by the Seed Savers Exchange.

| Very good flavored tomato. Shapes can vary quite a bit with this one but I would say fruit is normally in the 8-12 oz with a round to oblong shape range for me. In 2013 this was my first ripe large tomato. Very good yield particularly in the early part of the season. If not for disease issues last year I am confident it would have yielded welll the whole season. |

| This is a solid tomato for cold climates. It's relitivly easy to maintain and puts out a decent sized (though far from prolific) crop of tomatoes through the season. It has a nice, full bodied tomato flavor. For people who prefer an heirloom and are looking for a red tomato to keep those multi colored skeptics happy, Cosmonaut Volkov is perfect. |

| For an earlier tomato that does well in my relatively cold climate, these are a great tomato. CVs have great size, meatiness, and flavor, I think much better than other early tomatoes like Stupice (which I don't like). A very meaty slicer that nicely fills a slice of bread. When the later season slicers start to arrive, these start to taste a little flat in comparison. However, advantage is that when the better flavored late season slicers come in, these are meaty enough to double as good flavored paste tomatoes, especially when mixed as a "bulking agent" with more flavorful paste tomatoes like black plum or speckled roman. |

| A must grow for me every season.It doesn't mind growing in a 5 gallon container and is early(not as early as Stupice or Silvery Fir Tree,but is quite a bit bigger also).
Very nice early variety. |
