I have planted Rutgears for several years and have found they are the best all purpose tomato. They taste good just sliced, they make good puree, they can nicely, etc. What more can you ask for. This is about the only tomato I plant anymore.

Pretty darn good flavor for a tomato that is a consistent producer for me.

I liken this to a little better version of the Celebrity or Better Boy in taste. My yield was not so great but certainly decent. Nice looking round tomatoes. Can't complain but can do better with other varieties.

The taste is closer to the old fashioned tomato. Its truly tasty. This variety is easy to grow. However in my garden it seems to be a disease carrier.Ive decided to plant it seperate from my garden plot from now on due to this.Note, Ive nicknamed this variety "The Little Tomato that could" just because of this.Even after being exposed to multiple diseases[that would have killed other tomato plants] ,They survive and still produce fruit. What makes this odd is that its a heirloom not a hybrid.

Can't complain about these maters. I paid .10 cents per pack for these at Wal-mart. (american seeds). Didn't expect much. Planted seeds late in a small jiffy greenhouse on my side porch. Seeds were outdated by a year. Many came up and I ended up tossing them in my main garden about 3 weeks late. They caught up to my other transplants and have about 15 tomatoes per plant right now. Foliage is holding up well and they are starting to ripen. Stalks are thick and strong. So far I have picked 2 ripe tomatoes. Good taste, about as good as celebrity. If they act like an indeterminate plant and keep growing and producing I may upgrade my rating, but right now it seems like they are going to produce only what is on the plant now and no more. With the flavor being good I am satisfied.

Very easy to grow even for a novice. Bought seeds from a dollar store (10 packs for a $1). About 80% germination rate when provided with adequate conditions. Tastes like your average tomato. Definitely recommend for a beginner.
