Fauquier, Virginia, United States
Frost Free Season: 183 - 203 days
Soil Texture: Clay
Garden Size: Medium - 400 square feet to 1,600 square feet
Sun Exposure: 6 to 8 hours per day

My favorite variety from 2013 season. Extremely high yields (88 from 1 plant) of large, meaty fruit with few seeds, one days harvest makes a can of sauce. Toughness was noticed as it stood up to disease pressure well, but eventually succumbed to late blight (which was running rampant) very late in season. Only real drawback of this variety is its foliage is similar to "weeping" or looks wilted although kept constantly moist and leaves were turgid. This may lead less experienced gardeners to over water and reduce chances of success.

Lots of large paste tomatoes. The small seed pockets and large size made canning easier. I don't know about the taste because I mixed them with other tomatoes in sauce. They did well against the blight and kept producing till frost.

It was a tough tomato year in '08 (very wet and a cold spring). This variety does produce a large paste tomato that looks great, but the flavor was just OK. If you are looking for great flavor in a paste tomato, I would look to another variety. If you are only looking for large size, this one might be for you.

Planted two years in a row. The first year it did great. The next year was a little dry and even with a lot of watering it did poor. Other varieties did great that year so I question it's reliability.
