This was a new one for me this year, and while I enjoyed the tomatoes a lot, I will likely not grow it again. They matured later than many of my other varieties planted at the same time, and the overall yield was not great. I also found that they didn\'t keep very well. They were tasty but not outstanding.

I've had German Johnson keep pumping out tomatoes when all around it, heirloom and hybrid, had succumbed to disease. Deep pink beefsteak, wonderful for sandwiches, juicy, sweet, and excellent on a BLT. It did well for me in Zone 7 and has done well for me in Zone 5B. There's a good reason this one has been around as long as it has!

This did the best of the four large heirlooms I grew in my hoophouse. They were pretty, and good although not outstanding. And the least affected by disease. I took a bunch in the house after it got too cold, and they ripened right up until a week or so ago. So they gave me homegrown heirlooms for a long time!

Does exceptionally well here in the Carolinas. Taste is superb. Yields lower than one would hope and disease susceptible expecially to foliar and systemic diseases in the summer. If you grow heirlooms for sale in this area GJ is always in demand.

This is by far the worst variety I have ever grown. It was very unmanageable,a poor producer, and not to tasty. Won't grow it again.

Excellent variety but vary narrow time period to that peak flavor. Will go over-ripe quickly. Very soft. Usually disease prone (foliar diseases Ive noted). There are both regular and potato leaved forms. I prefer the regular and this was the stanard in the piedmont of North Carolina where I was introduced to it.
