I'ld give this 5 1/2 if possible as it is the number one black bean I've ever grown. Just fabulous for me in a cool summer climate.

Of the ten bush dry beans I tried in 2003, these were most successful germinating in rather heavy soil and an unusually cool wet spring. Also yielded fairly well (better than many) despite wet weather in late summer when the crop was maturing. Acceptable but not particularly inspiring as a soup bean.
