This pea competes with the Blackeye. May out yield the California # 5 under some Conditions. Peas are about the same size and shape, just having pink/purple eyes instead of black. Green shells have about the same flavor. Pods turn purple when ready for green shell. Easy to decide when to pick. If you are hand shelling be aware that the purple will stain your hands.
