Description:	Bush purple bean with 5- to 6-inch purple pods that turn bright-green when cooked. Erect plants have dark-green foliage with a tinge of purple on stems and petioles. Plants do well in cool soil. Resistant to common bean mosaic. Also known as 'Royal Burgundy', 'Royalty Purple Pod' and 'Royalty Purple Podded'.

Beautiful and vigorous plants. Easy to see when harvesting due to the striking burgundy color of the beans. Need to be picked while young or they become tough quickly.

Plant grew quickly, but did not produce a lot of beans. Need to be picked quickly as they get tough early. Love the color but not a favorite.

Maybe due to the location in the bed, productivity was low. Germinated well but produced late and not very prolific.

They were not as tasty as green bush beans, but were still delicious. Easy to grow.

The Royal Burgundy Bush Bean variety was a beautiful addition to my green beans at the dinner table. It seemed to trail along the ground more than other bush beans, making them more prone to pests and diseases. Nevertheless, its purple color, which turns green when cooked, was delicious with homegrown rosemary, olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Plants have long trailing stems and would benefit from support, so not quite a bush bean. Beans are not uniform--range of sizes. Flavor is nice, but not great.

These beans produced well. Most notable thing was that they seemed to not be bothered by the Mexican Bean beetle as were my other beans. Quite a nice surprise and will be planting again for this reason

Great bean. Very easy to grow, and great taste. Yields are not huge, but they are a good bean for gardening with kids or in a community garden to get people interested in something different. They are very good raw, or lightly steamed. The plants do walk a bit more than other bush beans I have grown.

I have grown these for a couple of years now but I am giving up on them. I have found them very late to start producing, for a bush bean. The beans do tend to drag on the ground making them muddy and disease-prone, and quantities are not great. But frankly that is fine, because they do not actually taste all that good and I have many other beans I would rather be eating. They did hold up fairly well against the (probable) bean yellow mosaic virus we had in the garden this year but that is not enough for them to make the cut next year.

The reason why I grew this variety was its color. Really beautiful bright purple flowers and beans. Unfortunally, it loses its color when it's cooked and tasteless like supermarket plastics. Easy to grow, germination rate was very close to %100. If you want some color in your garden and if you have some other bean varieties, try this just for its color, not for taste or yield. I bought the seeds from rareseeds.com

This beautiful purple bean was a lot of fun for my children who loved to pick and eat them right from the garden. Beans were sweet and mild, and had a long growing season. They blanch and freeze well, and taste delicious all winter.

Not a favorite. The beans tend to grow at the bottom of the plant, making harvesting difficult.

Easy to grow like most beans. The taste is pretty mild. I found the yield to be less than that of blue lake bush. However, they are a "nice" looking plant and I currently have them planted in the flower beds. The kids loved picking them - easy to find.

I've had great yields every year I've grown these. The taste is fine...I've had better but I've had much worse. My kids love them, maybe because the flavor isn't too strong. I've had pretty good luck starting them in fairly cool weather.

the ground hog loved them. he left me a few plants so i did get to harvest some and they tasted good. the ground hog attacked just as tthe first batch was reaching maturity but they recovered in a few weeks and kept producing. thats more than i can say for my lettus, cabage, and brocolli.

Decent, if ordinary, flavor. The yield was OK. My main objection to this bean was that it got terrible fungus. Compared to the other 2 beans I grew at the same time, it was by far the least disease resistant.

I have grown both the Royalty and the Royal Burgundy. They are not the same. The Royal Burgundy is a noticeable improvement over the older Royalty. A more uniform, better yielding cultivar. Taste is about the same.

Easy to find purple beans somewhat small though tasty, but some years not very productive in a northern prairie drought-prone garden.
