Unlike specified, stalks range from 16"-24" prior to trimming. Must be grown in trenches. Strict fertilizer and ample water required. Prone to the growth of suckers at the base of the plants which must be removed. Fairly heat resistant, No pest or disease problems. Trimmed tops are most tender and flavorful. |

My favorite celery. Good sized stalks, the best flavor of any celery I have had, and extremely slow to bolt. 4 stars for ease because it has to be started indoors SO early (late February) for my NE Illinois garden. |

Had good success with these on my first attempt with celery, definitely not the easiest crop on the whole - these were relatively maintenance free. Taste was great, did not blanch early enough so came out with a dark colour and strong taste, but still delicious, not stringy or watery at all. |

The time and effort that it took to nurse these slow-growing seedlings along paid off for me in a lengthy period of harvest. I found the stalks pleasantly flavorful without blanching. I did, however, plant in 36" beds with 3 offset rows spacing plants about 8 inches apart which-I think-limited sun exposure to the stalks and improved flavor. Plants were fairly resistant to frost both early and late in the season. Shortly after putting them out they suffered through a cold snap, losing only little foliage. |
