I've tried these for a couple of years and have been disappointed with the results. The fruits are very good eating but the yield has been poor.

This variety of pepper tends to have thin walls and spotty yield in my garden. Unfortunately, it is the only variety available at my local nurseries as a start. "Rampage" was available until a few years ago and was much more successful - many more high quality peppers.

I have tried a lot of varieties of peppers and have finally found the one. The peppers are all perfectly shaped, and grow big and hearty. The taste is wonderful. They are slow to change from green to red, so if you are patient, you can pick them with interesting color combination to make the cooking more fun. The yield is good, many on each plant. 2006 Des Moines Iowa dloweatl@ix.netcom.com

I always come back to Cal Wonders in spite of trying other varieties of bell pepper. It is a reliable variety that never dissappoints me. Sure, there are years when production could be heavier, but I have yet to find a more dependable plant. I prefer its large firm sweet fruits which are great in salads or bagging for freezing. I also like this variety's tendency to push production when the days shorten and frost looms. Tender 3-4 inch peppers just seem to magically appear on the plants near the end of the growing season!

A standard bell pepper for this area. Grows well and is reliable. It was designed as a green bell and is slow to ripen to red. For those that prefer red ripe bells, it is not a good choice, but it is very good as as a green bell either in salads, or stuffed pepper.

I grew these for the first time last year. The snails in the garden loved them too. The peppers were smalled than described but prolific.

I have had difficulty keeping this variety alive. Doesn't seem to be too resistant to disease and nematodes. Perhaps it has also to do with the hot Louisiana climate.

I have had good luck with this variety even through the past couple of years with drought and wet conditions. I get a lot of decent size green fruit and several large every year. They freeze very well. The only problem I have had is that I only get a few to mature to red.
