Winnebago, Wisconsin, United States
Frost Free Season: 143 - 163 days
Soil Texture: Loam
Garden Size: Large - More than 1,600 square feet (40' x 40')
Sun Exposure: More than 8 hours per day

70 days after transplant here, vigorous upright plants, fairly good yield of round, 2.5" X 2.5" peppers, some flattened some more heart shaped, similar to Sheepnose but less deeply indented, very dark green immature, thick-walled and heavy, exceptionally firm texture does not turn to mush when chopped, slightly smoky flavor (not hot, but don\'t rub your eyes), ripe peppers glossy deep red & moderately sweet, ripens reliably here & makes a thick chunky canned salsa.\r\n\r\nI wish the yield were higher, but in bad years this may be the only thick-walled sweet pepper that ripens. It is one of the varieties I would recommend it for those in climates where ripe peppers are a challenge.
