My most prolific producer this year. Purchased a transplant from Seed Savers Exchange - worried that this past year upstate NY was going to be a short season and that my seedlings weren't far enough along to produce a good crop this year. I planted four transplants in a 4x8x11" bed and these beauties outperformed all my others - except for the Mexican Midgets. In terms of taste, even my husband who HATES tomatoes liked these and proclaimed that this would be the only tomato he would eat. His main problem are seeds and this large beauty has a much smaller compartment of seeds and have more meat to them - similar to a beefsteak. However, even though the color appears very red, it is truly pink. The skin is not too thick, nor fragile and the taste is of low acidity, not spicy in the least, but rather a nice sweetness. This one truly deserves to be eaten without dressing or other accompaniments. The vines were very hardy, averaging approximately 15 feet easily and were heavy producers up to late October, when I decided I needed to prep my bed for fall/winter, but I'm sure would have continued performing if left to their own devices. I have several requests for this variety next year and am planning on planting EIGHT of these. Will earn a yearly growing at our farm.
