Description: Open-pollinated, long-day, Italian heirloom. Plants produce flattened, 3/4- to 1 1/2-inch by 2- to 4-inch bulbs with shiny, yellowish-bronze skin. Also known as 'Borenttana Cipolini Button', 'Borrettana Cippolini', 'Borettana Yellow', 'Cipolini' and 'Cippolina Borretana'.

This is my 2nd year. They are weaker plants than yellow of parma. But they grow a lot faster and bigger than my other onions. Not all of them survives, we have weird weather here. It gets too hot in April about 10 days, then goes down to 32F and warms up again slowly. It's not easy to grow onions, the plants dry out quick.

2009 was first crop of Borettana. Seed was easy pre-season germination, and growth was steady throught summer. A very fine flavor in compact 2" diameter. Will definitely expand this selection for next year.
