Planted one seedling on May 23. Grew well and was very tasty. In mid-summer the plant developed powdery mildew. Unfortunately, this was common this summer. |

Fared better than the other basil planted in this bed. It was on the southern side so perhaps it got more sunlight. It was a beautiful and aromatic addition to the tomatoes and borage and tasted wonderful before it flowered. |

Borage took over in the bed the basil was planted in along with very large tomato plants so the basil did not have much of a chance to thrive. |

The basil did not grow well in the plot with the required 3 tomatoes, 2 borage and 2 other basil varieties. They were quickly overtaken by the tomatoes and died off. |

We cannot grow it in full sun here. We are inland San Diego. We grow it under the side of our deck which works like a lath house and the basil is happy; all we do is water and snap off the flower spikes - which we use in salad. The big leaves work great for pesto and in sandwiches and salads. We grow it in large pots with dirt from our yard, which is nothing special. It gets morning sun and then filtered sun the rest of the day. |

Got organic seeds from Seeds of Change and had about 85% germination rate. Started indoors 3/26 for mid-May transplant. Seedlings were hardy and easy to care for. Produced lots of leaves all summer (even during this very rainy and cool season) with regular harvesting. Great basil taste and smell. Will plant again. |

Excellent germination and productivity. I grew about 24 of these in containers. The plants are doing very well. I found the flavor to be excellent. Any basil if let go to flower is apt to get bitter notes. |

Amazing vitality and growth. I had more basil than I knew what to do with. I found the taste to be slightly bitter. I enjoy making basil pesto, and Genovese's bitterness made the basil taste a bit medicinal. Exceptional growth habit with large leaves. |

Plant some seeds around your tomatoes and forget about it. This is an easy-to-grow, very tasty basil. Grows like a weed, but didn't stand the heat in parts of my garden during last year's drought (2005). |

Almost grows like a weed in the dead of summer and the more you cut it back the busher the plant gets. Last year, I had basil from April to November. I would bring in bag fulls to my workplace for people to make fresh pesto. I trying them again this year, but this time from the seeds of last year's basil plant. |

Sprouts incredibly fast from seed and grows into big prolific leafy plants. I keep it in my raised bed greenhouse with the tomatoes. Pinching back top buds causes it to bush and branch out beautifully. This is a very tasty basi and we use leaves fresh in salad as well as making pesto and drying. |
