In 2008 I experimented in growing several varieties of water melons at my home in lake county California where the temperature averaged 100 degrees F during the summer. From three hills I harvested 6 melons ranging rom 15lbs to 30 lbs; vines were vigorous and melons were quite sweet and flavorful, but not as sweet and flavorful as my sweet favorite watermelons. I still plan to grow it again, Lord willing, in 2009. |
