The best variety that I grew this year out of 13 types of garlic planted. I bought these from a farm stand in 2005. They produce very large heads (many over 3 in. across) with very large cloves that have thick skins (they are easy to peel, hence the name). Purple striped with brownish clove skins. Planted 10/25-04, harvested 7/7/05: good harvest timing on this one, no heads breaking out. Only fault is thet thay have some double cloves that grow into double heads. No rot in a ~very~ wet spring here. Tallest of the 13 varieties planted. Easy to clean and peel. A gerat garlic overall. Flavor is a bit spicey and a tad hot, but good. |

Far and away the best garlic I have known. My seed stock was handed down through my wife's family from Sardinia. We select seed from the largest toes so we get some incredible yields that are very easy to prepare. The flavor and keeping qualities are great. |
