Grew this for the first time this year. Started from seed and planted in my greenhouse. Initially this was the hardiest appearing seedling of some 12 different varieties. I waited too long to transplant and it slowed a great deal. Yield was less than expected, but I did get several huge multicolored fruits. These were the best tasting tomatoes I have ever eaten. Perfect for sandwiches or raw. Also made wonderful tasting sauce. A bit of caution, mine were perfectly ripe when still mostly green on the outside - test the softness of the flesh, not the color. As mentioned in another review I had to use a pruner to safely remove the intact ripe fruit.

Had a love-hate relationship with these last summer - did plant a few again this year, but am undecided. The fruit are enormous and very irregular, which wouldn't be a problem except that they also ripen irregularly/split so heavily that it can mean a lot of compromised fruit. The taste was lovely, and the colors so striking when sliced - just beautiful. But I had quite a few rotting on the vine, or colonized by fruit flies, because they looked fine from the front and were overripe/cracked/etc back where I couldn't see. Also, to get the fruit off the vine w/o damaging it was tough. They just don't come off! If they're underripe, you end up ripping off a chunk of the pant. If they're ripe, you'll likely damage the tomato. I eventually resorted to using my little pruning shears to snip off at about a half inch of stem. Never had to do that with a tomato before!

It's my 4th year, this is the best tomato I've ever grown. Even better than brandywine. It's not a pretty looking tomato, not to eat fresh. It's excellent to enhance the taste of sauces and soups. I mix it with red tomatoes. You notice the difference right away, once you try you can never forget its incredible taste. It's also pretty strong against to late blight compare to other varieties I've grown. Some of them get really big, like 1pd.

I grew this for the first time in 2007. The plants did well but did not produce lots of tomatoes. I was not that impressed with the flavor. The tomatoes were striking when sliced but I'm more a fan of flavor than presentation. I may try it one more time but it's not high on my list.

A very beautiful tomato when sliced. The flavor was very good but the production was small.

A unique tomato! Ripe tomatoes were a lovely blend of the three colors, and as my seed catalog had mentioned, the three colors really did have different flavors--and texture. Every tomato from my two plants was huge--usually sandwich-sized.
