An early, productive, determinate pea. Flavour, however, is average at best.

This variety grew very well up in Montana during a rainy spring. They seemed to like being double rowed, planted close together. One of the best yielding peas I have tried. Only complaint is tend to go starchy rather than sweet fairly fast. Will grow again absolutely.

I've tried 8 varieties of peas and all failed miserably until I discovered dakota. I also grow it during the winter time and every year it pumps out tons of peas with little maintenance. This is a staple in my garden. Sweet too.

In this climate, only short season English peas do well. This one was a pleasnt surprise, beating Early Alaska by two weeks. Very short stiff vines that need no support. It does tend to produce a once over crop and was probably developed for machine harvest. Peas have good flavor for an early pea and yielded well. Georgia is not English pea country. Have to grow them in winter and early spring under short daylight conditions. This one did well under those conditions.

For an early variety, this pea took a long time (3+ weeks) to germinate, but once it did the germination rate was good, plants were sturdy, and peas were sweet and juicy.
