The reason for lower ratings primarily has to do with very low germination levels (both direct seed and in trays for transplant). The relatively few plants we managed to get started became large, beautiful red romaines. Absolutely gorgeous looking. Looked great on the market table. Average romaine taste in our opinion. Very possible we had a bad seed batch - but we weren't impressed enough with the taste to pursue it further. Perhaps we are in the wrong region for this particular variety. As always, consider the fact that a negative review here does not mean it won't meat your expectations! Every has different taste & there is a wide range of growing conditions.
