I planted this variety in part-shade under a Redbud tree, and the semi-dry, improved soil produced tons of cucumbers, and the vine sprawled into the pathway. The cucumbers were standard pickling and slicing cucumbers with a large seed cavity. I tried to pick 1-2 inch gherkins, but they were flexible, not crisp. I liked how productive the vines were, but not how soft the small cucumbers were.
