I have had trouble with disease in Brandywine variety, but this was not a problem in the black version. Taste was a bit less spectacular than regular Brandywine or Tiffen Mennonite, but excellant nonetheless. Plants were not as vigourous as Porter Variety grown beside them, but had well cropped production if not abundant, much better than regular Brandywine. I prefer Cherokee Purple in this type, but a good choice if you have room for both. As heat of summer peaked, production dropped rapidly. The vines came back to some extent in early fall, but most fruit were lost to freeze before ripening. I would say this is not a good variety in hotter climates.
