Planted one row of seeds on May 16. This crop produced an extremely high yield. Some leaves showed signs of insect damage (holes) though we saw no critters. This was minor and had little effect on the yield. We are still harvesting in late October. |

This variety is easy to grow and will get quite large; I have harvested leaves over 2' long, grown in good soil but without any fertilizer or special attention. Does not bolt, in my experience. I have also overwintered fall plantings successfully in central VA; it will not grow much over the winter, but stays green and becomes tender and delicious. Still do not plant too much in spring; by mid-June, despite my best efforts, harlequin bugs render my plants inedible. |
