this is by far the best pea i have ever grown. it is delicious, has large peas, is just barely early enough for me [i have springs where the temp can hit the 90s before my last frost! peas just stop bearing by june.] for a climbing variety it is quite early.
if you like shelling peas that are not tiny petit pois, this is a fantastic variety. i hope to help keep this in commerce. |

I planted these in Spring 2010. These seeds were available at hardware stores and supermarkets. Good germination, good taste. Average yield. They do need support. I planted them along a chain link fence. If planted again I would give them more space between plants. (at least 4 inches), as some plants didn't mature as they were crowded behind other plants. |

I grew the Laxton's Progress variety which Gurney's used to carry when they were South Dakota owned and this was the only pea I ever grew because it was so dependable, good and sweet.
It did carry some mildew on the leaves but it never affected yeild or growing. |

This pea has good flavor, but has been a poor yielder in both Virginia and Georgia. |
