The vines quickly grew to about 6 feet, even though I had gone away for 2 weeks and they were un-watered. As a snap bean the pods were rather woody. Shelled they were better tasting. Where they were best was as a dry bean of about 95 days, almost like a pinto bean. Not all that prolific, but had excellent flavor. Be warned; cooked as refried beans they could be nicknamed Blazing Saddle Beans.

I have a caveat in it was not the bean's fault it did not do well on the northern plains where I grew it. It seems to be a southern bean as the previous commenter is from Georgia. In the midwest north, it is later, it struggled and did not produce a very big crop so it was a disappointment. It did not even handle our drought conditions as well as Kentucky Wonder or Old Homestead. I would have loved to have had this bean as a yearly crop, but for the north it seems Kentucky Wax Pole and Wonder Pole are more suited here. As I stated it is not the bean's fault, just can not grow it or peaches here well either.

This was a very popular pole snap bean in the mid Atlantic states. Gowth and flavor is similar to the Brown Seeded Kentucky Wonder. It tolerates stress better and will produce a crop where Kentucky Wonder fails. A reliable pole snap bean.
