Very nice flavor, especially if you cook it right away. It has long tender stems on the florets. It looks good even when harvested as early as late August, when most fall varieties produce rough leafy heads in this area. After harvest, they make good side shoots until frost or cabbage worms get them.

I started Diplomat seeds from Fedco under shop lights in 3-inch pots in early winter, and planted out one each in a 5-gallon container six weeks later. Each of the three plants grew beautifully and produced a large, fine grained, dense, dark green head. Don't be alarmed when you first see the head emerge. It is initially yellow and then the yellow-green color of a brocco-flower before finally turning dark green. The heads have excellent flavor. I don't think that the plants are going to put out side shoots.
