Rensselaer, New York, United States
Frost Free Season: 143 - 163 days
Soil Texture: Loam
Garden Size: Small - Less than 400 square feet (20' x 20')
Sun Exposure: More than 8 hours per day

The seeds germinated quickly inside and were transplanted in two beds with tomato and pepper plants. They were slow to take after transplanting, so I would suggest planting directly outside instead. Also, the tomato and pepper plants quickly outgrew and shaded the onions. Out of 12 transplanted only about 4 survived, and only one was larger than an inch. Good taste, however.

These onions did fairly well, but were shaded by the tomato plants in the same bed. Perhaps the yield, or the size of the onions would have been larger. They tasted mild and sweet, though quite small.

NY Early did not produce well in our trial from transplants, some not bulbing at all while others that did bulb were very small.

Easy seed start in February with steady growth until plantout May 12. Must say these have performed extremely well this year with the high rainfall. They produced a phenominal yield for the amount of plants set, two 5 gallon pails with about 18 feet of row. These taste quite nice, and have been used for both general cooking and making onion soup, and several batches have gone through the dehydrator.
