Super great alternative to Monsanto\'s Red Zeppelin (Monsanto owns Seminis seeds). Nice big onions, some variance in size. Grown in black plastic with drip lines underneath. Huge harvest. Last of all onions to flop.

Red Wing is a beautiful red onion grown from seed transplants started here in CT in mid-Feb. Pretty maroon exterior and a mix of red and white interior. Planted at 6 inch spacing, many were over 3/4 lb. Harvest here was around late August. Spicy when harvested, but will mild up somewhat after drying. A good keeper, my experience has showed. 2009 was a good onion year with abundant rainfall. A couple weeks later than Red Baron grown from FEDCO sets. Start seeds as early as possible for large transplants, and water and fertilize well once in the garden, then keep weeds out. Handle gently when sun drying for best keeping results. Protect from rain during drying. Overall, a very good onion!
