Last year I planted a row of seed potatoes from my mother\'s prolific garden in Alaska, and while they produced a decent crop, scab was a major issue. Ph evidently plays a significant role in this, so I almost skipped potatoes this year. However, I saw that Red Norland was supposed to be more resistant to scab, so bought a little package of 8 seed potatoes at Walmart. They did quite well, considering that I neglected them so much. I weeded and hilled once and mulched with newspaper and straw, but other than that they were left to their own devices. I did not get a very good yield, but what I did get was good-sized and had no scab. So far they\'ve kept in the pantry for over a month and look as good as when I dug them. I\'ll definitely try these again.
